Hi all, some of you will know that NAV 2013 ships new professionals administration tools for maintaining NAV server instances, users etc. These are based on power shell using cmdlets doing your tasks. By default power shell includes a command line tool running your scripts. Windows also includes a user interface (editor) which is more flexible then the command line. It is called ISE and you can additional install it. (You can found the code for adding the cmdlets for NAV into ISE in the installation directory of your NAV server instance – file: “NavAdminTool”) Anyway, “surfing” on the web I was looking for a graphical user interface which supports some kind of “word completing” and contextual help. AND I FOUND IT. PowerGUI, a graphical user interface and script editor for Microsoft Windows PowerShell!   Hi all! During readiness workshops attendees ask me very often why some modifications on pages in NAV 2013 could not be found in the designer view of the page? Example Designer? Answer?

Hi all, have you ever tried to run a query in a scope of an end-user by using an action? It isn’t possible by default. You are not allowed to enter a query object in the RunObject property and there is no myquery.RUN function. What you can do is export a query to file, but I want to open the query result as an user inside NAV 2013. By having some knowledge about NAV 2009 and starting objects I tried the following C/AL statement HYPERLINK(‘DynamicsNAV:////runquery?query=[number]’); AND? Yes this is working!

In Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2013 it is supported (and default value) to use text variables without a length.(not fields!) just my 2 cents: Because of this it could be possible to use a workaround for a “memo field” without an add-in. 1. Just create a page (or use an existing one) with a text variable without a length. 2. Use the variable instead of a field directly in the page. 3. Set some properties about the look and feel (like width) and … voila’ “a memo control” All you have to do now is add some code for storing the data in a blob (in the table) and - reload it when you get the record or - save it (you can use an action for this) when you want to change it. Of course no text formatting options are available.   /Rene

  For today I planned to install NAV 2013 on windows Azure. I have never tried this with the beta because I thought it would be better waiting for RTM version. Now I was wondering … the cloud tools are missing on the RTM product CD? I have contacted the supported whats up … will keep you up to date..
